Brandeis C. DeBroeck, 26, of Lisle, was taken to Edward Hospital in Naperville,
after being fatally struck by a vehicle Friday evening in west suburban Lisle.
Witnesses said a woman was walking across Maple from north to south when
she was struck by a car in the eastbound curb lane of Maple. Police were
notified just before 8:30 p.m. for the accident at Maple Avenue and Benedictine
Parkway, according to Lisle police.
An elderly woman from Naperville was operating the vehicle at the time
of the crash. She told police she never saw the woman walking in the crosswalk
until her vehicle struck her.
Immediately following that crash, two other vehicles were unable to stop
in time and a separate collision occurred, police said. No injuries were
reported in the second crash.
With pedestrian accidents such as this one, the last thing that any family
should have to think about is a lawsuit. However, the immediate investigation
of pedestrian accidents is vital. The more time that passes the more likely
witnesses are to forget details. In addition, it is important to have
an attorney represent the victim during the traffic hearing, in the event
that citations were issued.
