On Thursday, November 1, 2012, John Nisivaco will speak at the Admission Ceremony for the Second District atThe Hemmens Auditorium in Elgin, Illinois. He will join Illinois Supreme Court Justice Robert R. Thomas and all of the Appellate Justices from the Second District Appellate Court to welcome and admit the candidates to the profession of law as attorneys in the State of Illinois.

John Nisivaco, as Secretary of the Illinois State Bar Association , was asked to speak at the ceremony and provide some brief remarks to the newly admitted attorneys on behalf of the 35,000 members of the state bar association. As new admittees, each attorney receives a free one-year membership in the ISBA, along with membership in the Young Lawyers Division and two other sections of their choice. The ISBA also hosts a reception immediately after this ceremony, to which all attorneys and guests are invited.

While for the past three years, the candidates have been inundated with education, they understand that their real education is just beginning. They’ll soon learn that the first year of practicing law is an exercise in ignorance and ignominy. Fresh off their conquest of the bar exam, they will enter the life of a first-year lawyer relatively clueless about the difficulty of the ensuing twelve months. As they go through the learning process that always comes with being a new lawyer, they will come to know that they can count on the Illinois State Bar Association to provide them with the support and tools to make the learning process easier and more manageable.
